NBA League
The ZETECH College Basketball Team is participating in the ongoing Nairobi Basketball Association (NBA) League. Being new entrants in the League they have put up a spirited fight in the matches they have participated in so far!
Head Coach of an experienced team that played against ZETECH College on 29th April, 2012 stated “Zetech was a good team that only needed more experience!”
We wish the team all the best and look forward to improved standings!
RECENT EVENTS
Annual Career Fair
The ZETECH College 2012 Annual Career Fair was marked with pomp and colour, with an array of keynote speakers gracing the event which recorded an attendance of over 1,800 current and prospective students.
The annual event which was held at the August 7th Memorial Park from 10th to 12th April, 2012 goes down in the annals of history as yet another successful one; this time being held outside Pioneer Campus for the first time.
Themed ‘Linking Careers to the World’, keynote speakers radiated positivity at the three day event inspiring the students who turned out in droves. Keynote speakers including San Valencia CEO, Mr Phineas Kimathi; NOPE Institute Executive Director, Mr Philip Waweru; GreenBell Communications Ltd Managing Director, Rose Maghas and Co-operative Bank of Kenya Brand Manager, Francis Ngambi talked about the highs and lows of their careers in addition to challenging the students to develop positive attitudes demanded by any career.
May Intake Orientation
The May Intake JKUAT Orientation attracted over 300 optimistic students enrolled for various courses ranging from Certificate, Diploma and Degree.
The students were urged by Prof. Edwin K. Wamukoya, ZETECH College Principal to set targets that will act as road maps to help them achieve their academic goals. The Principal also urged them to engage in co-curricular activities available at the College, which will allow them to be well rounded individuals.
PAST EVENTS
University and College Football League
Zetech College continued their fine form in the University & College Football League as they edged out a rather technical NIBS Ruiru campus 2-0 at NYS Ruaraka grounds on Sunday 30th Oct 2011.
From Zetech`s line up it was evident they were taking nothing for granted in the game. The last time the two teams met Zetech won by the same margin. Ambrose Ooko put Zetech ahead in the 15th minute while Nickolas Otieno added Zetech`s tally to two goals in the 56th minute.
With only two games left to play before the season comes to a closure, Zetech looks fated to carry home the top prize. This may be so, if they win their next game on Saturday 5th Nov against NYS Ruaraka.
Mr & Miss Zetech
After days of much anticipation, Mr. and Miss Zetech 2011 finally went down at the splash water world on Friday 14th October 2011.
Mr. and Miss Zetech is an annual event normally held towards the end of the year. The event attracts the top artists and other players in the industry.
After three weeks of intense training at Ashley’s under the mentorship of former Mr. Kenya, Erick Odadah. The models had an opportunity to learn from the best in the business.
Arguably the biggest event in the College calendar, Mr. and Miss Zetech lived to its reputation as the turn out surpassed the expectations, with students from other universities and colleges flocking the venue.
The show kicked off at ten pm with followed performances from the upcoming artists with Zetech college marketing executive Moses Mutuma a.k.a Mospet , gospel artist Mbuvi also gave a thrilling performance. Others included Mandraxx, Q tac, Mejja and Wyre.
The models show cased different attires from different fashion houses in Nairobi. The attires were in different categories such as African, casual and evening.
After a night of lots of entertainment and immense talent, Anthony Ashioya and Beryl Wangkal emerged the winners as Mr. and Miss respectively beating competition from 23 other contestants.
CSR
Zetech College Community took part in an exercise to donate blood to the Kenya National Blood Transfusion Service.
The exercise took place on 12th Oct 2011 and saw students and staff from all our campuses donating blood for the worthy course.
Speaking after donating blood, Zetech College Chairman, Eng. Mbiuki said the exercise was part of corporate social responsibility organized by the college to help the needy in society.
“This is part of our CSR program as Zetech College; we are part of the community here in Nairobi. We would like to help those who are in need in the society and also those who are in need of blood as a way of saving lives.’’
Hope worldwide Kenya coordinator, Margaret Nguku appreciated the effort made by the college to donate blood as not so many Kenyans donate blood voluntarily.
The College has partnered with Hope Worldwide and will be conducting blood donation exercises in other parts of the country apart from Nairobi.
Graduation Ceremony
Zetech college held its fourth graduation ceremony on Friday the 16th of September at the KICC Tsavo Ballroom from 9.00 in the morning. The event witnessed a celebration of the achievement of our students from the various courses offered at Zetech college
The chief Guest was the Vice Chancellor JKUAT Prof Mabel Imbuga, who also unveiled the architectural design of the proposed campus in ruiru.
Alumni Dinner
Zetech college recently hosted its alumni for a dinner party at the 680 Hotel. The event was meant to offer an opportunity to our former students to interact and network.
Drama festivals
The college scooped a total of six trophy's during the nations schools and colleges music festivals in Nakuru, in the month of July.
Earlier this year in this year's Nairobi zone schools and college's drama festivals, the College drama club managed to take the third place in the narrative category and sixth position in the play category. Being the first time for the College to participate in such an event, the results were impressive. The club is expected to perform even better in the next drama competitions.
